Complications from untreated Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) include:
- Most commonly, feeling tired and sleepy. Often people are irritable, have trouble concentrating, experience morning headaches or fall asleep easily while watching TV.
- A greater risk of high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke due to drops in blood oxygen levels. Your blood oxygen levels drop every time your airway is obstructed (lack of breath equals lack of oxygen). This can happen from 5 to over 30 times an hour, all night long.
